Unit 03 | Who / When / Where 의문문

 

▶ Who 의문문

1. 특정한 모습을 한 사람, 특정한 행위를 하는 사람 또는  특정 업무 담당자를 묻는 문제가 출체된다.

2. 사람 이름, 직위, 직업 같은 직접적인 대답이 정답이며, 다양한 간접 응답도 존재한다.

 

 

◆ 빈출 질문 & 응답 패턴

 

사람           Q        Who will replace Mr. Fernandez when he retires? → 대체할 인물 질문

이름           정답    I heard that Maria Ortega will. → 사람 이름 대답

                  오답    No, I'm not tired. → 유사 발음 [retire / tired]

Who booked the airline tickets? → 비행키 티켓을 예약한 사람이 누군지에 대한 질문

 

A) Laura returned this book. → 질문의 booked(예약하다)와 다른 뜻을 가진 book(책)을 이용한 오답

B) Flights leave every hour. → airline에서 연상 가능한 Flights를 이용한 오답

C) Someone in the Paris office. → 예약자를 묻는 질문에, 누군가라고 언급했으므로 정답

 

 

▶ When 의문문

1. 특정 시점을 묻는 문제가 출제된다.

2. 사간 관련 표현이 포함된 보기가 정답일 확률이 높다.

 

 

◆ 빈출 질문 & 응답 패턴

시점           정답    In about fifteen minutes. → 15분 후라 언급

                  오답    As part of the hiring process. → 연상 작용 [interviewing / hiring]

When will the next phase of construction begin? → 공사 다음 단계 시작 시점에 대한 질문

 

A) A major improvement. → construction(공사)에서 연상되는 improvement(개선)를 이용한 오답

B) Once the blueprints are finalized. → '설계도가 완성 되면요'라고 우회적인 시작 시점 언급

C) In a three-story apartment building. → 공사 장소를 묻는 Where 의문문에 적합한 대답

 

 

▶ Where 의문문

1. 장소 및 위치 관련 정보를 묻는 질문이 주를 이루며, 간혹 출처나 정보 획득처를 묻는 질문이 나오기도 한다.

2. 장소 관련 어휘와 위치를 나타내는 표현이 있는 응답이 정답일 가능성이 높다.

A) Just a small cup. → copies를 coffee로 잘못 들었을 경우 연상 가능한 cup을 이용한 오답

Unit 04 | What, Which / Why / How 의문문

 

▶ What, Which 의문문

 

1. What 의문문은 다양한 내용을 물으며 What 뒤에 오는 부분을 집중해서 들어야 한다.

2. Which 다음에 오는 명사가 질문의 핵심 포인트다.

    이 명사의 하위어나 대명사 one이 들어간 보기가 정답일 가능성이 높다.

시간           Q        What time does the presentation begin? → 발표 시작 시간 질문

                  정답    It starts at 10 o'clock. → 시작 시간 알려줌

                  오답    I was present here. → 참석여부 대답

▶ Why 의문문

 

1. Why 의문문으로 시작하는 질문은 Because나 To부정사로 시작하는 응답이 정답일 확률이 높다.

2.다른 의문사와 달리 부정 의문문(Why isn't / Why hasn't)형태로도 종종 출제된다.

 

 

◆ 빈출 질문 & 응답 패턴

                  정답    Because the rates were too high. → 비싼 보험료 언급

                  오답    Yes, I'm sure. → 의문사 의문문 질문은 Yes / No 대답 불가

▶ How 의문문

 

1. How 뒤 형용사와 부사가 더해져 빈도, 수량, 기간, 가격 등의 정보를 묻는 질문과,

    how가 단독으로 쓰여 방법 이나 의견(How do you like ~?)을 묻는 질문이 출제된다.

2. 직접적으로 정보를 제공하는 답변이 많지만, 우회적인 답변 또한 존재한다.

                  정답    We have them twice a year. → 1년에 2번이라 언급
